The boat was started in 1991 by Andrey Ahkmeton a naval architect from S.Pietroburgo, he was fascinated by the lines of the vessels which sailed in the Baltic sea at the end of 1700. The reasons for building a replica of this kinds of vessels was the advantage of the appeal of the "Old look" and the remarkable seaworthiness. After an accurate research, the plans of the foretop main schooner were reproduced , the old boat was due to postal and customs service or used as a tender by frigates or ships of the lines.
In 1994 the construction of the boat started at Grumant shipyard in Petrozavodsk , oak for frames, carelia pine for planking were the woods used, pig iron for ballast and "Pinka" for running rigging.
After being launched, the boat crossed Ladoga lake and Neva river, and after arriving in S.Pietroburgo finally met the sea.
In 1995 she took part with great successes in the famous sea festivals in England and in Brittany. The vessel arrived in Genoa and here she was abandoned by her captain and crew.
During the three following years she was vandalised and twice she sunk: this seemed her end but in February 1999 Marco de Amici reckoned that the boat could have been saved and with the co-operation of a true "Band of brothers" after months of struggle Pandora was finally re-launched.
She started her new sailing career in September 1999 and in April 2000 she took part in the famous race "Tall ships" from Genoa to Cadiz.
On the way back, Pandora landed in Minorca where she was a "Star" in the famous film " , an Anglo-American production.
